TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Former WCTV anchor turned author Shonda Knight is celebrating a new milestone.
Her children’s book “My Omnilocks: Hair with Endless Looks” will soon be featured in Chicago public libraries, including the one inside the newly opened Obama Presidential Center.
“This is like a dream. This really is like a dream,” Knight said. “When I first wrote the first book it was just literally something I knew kids needed to hear and I wanted to put it in a form that was very appealing to them. So now to be able to have it in the hands of children in the third largest city in the country is just unfathomable.”

Knight said she wrote the book as a confidence booster to try to help girls love their hair and themselves.
“It’s about hair, but more so it’s about confidence building in little girls. So many little brown girls struggle with a love hate relationship with their hair,” she said. “It just makes my heart feel so good inside to know that little girls are going to read this and really feel good about the hair that God gave them.”
Knight said copies of the book are being coded and routed and are expected to be on library shelves in Chicago soon.
