U.S. Marshals arrest Orlando bus stop shooting suspect in New York

  • June 23, 2026

ORLANDO, Fla. – An arrest has been made in connection with a shooting that left a 70-year-old woman critically injured at an Orlando bus stop earlier this month.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Marshals Service located and arrested Kevin Millares, 27, in New York on a charge of attempted murder. He is being held at Rikers Island while awaiting extradition.

Investigators learned Millares had fled to New York shortly after the June 8 shooting that happened in the 1000 block of Egan Drive, near Hager Way. Deputies said the victim was shot by an unknown person while waiting at a bus stop and was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Orange County deputies had converged on a home in Orlando’s Azalea Park neighborhood on the same day as the shooting. The law enforcement presence was reported near Flanders Way at Faber Drive — just blocks from where the victim was shot.

The sheriff’s office later confirmed a SWAT team cleared the residence, but determined the suspect was not inside.

News 6 has learned that Millares’ Orlando address is the same house that law enforcement surrounded.
