A 23-year-old woman died after police said she jumped from a moving car on Interstate 95 over the weekend in Port St. Lucie.
Police said the incident happened at about 1:05 a.m. Saturday on I-95 northbound at mile marker 118.
Investigators said a preliminary investigation revealed that a light green 2017 Dodge Ram pickup driven by a 24-year-old Port St. Lucie man was traveling northbound on I-95.
The only other occupant of the pickup was the front passenger, a 23-year-old woman from Port St. Lucie.
Police said both the passenger and the woman were returning from a Halloween celebration in West Palm Beach.
While they were driving, police said the woman was on her phone speaking with a friend and told the friend she was going to jump from the pickup truck.
According to investigators, moments later, the phone went dead and it is believed that the woman jumped from the pickup onto the roadway and sustained fatal injuries.
Police said the 24-year-old man driving the pickup truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
