PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — The identity of the man who was struck and killed while riding an e-scooter on Halloween was released Monday, according to the Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD).

The man was identified as 49-year-old Victor Santiago, who, at around 5:45 a.m., was traveling north on an electric scooter through the SE Crosstown Parkway, according to PSLPD.

Police say their investigation revealed that a 2021 Mercedes traveling on SE Crosstown Parkway struck the scooter, ejecting Santiago. Following the crash, the driver of the Mercedes stayed on the scene. Santiago was taken to the hospital and was transported to the St. Lucie Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
