HOBE SOUND, Fla. (CBS12) — Water service in Martin County has been disrupted after a man crashed his vehicle into the Hobe Sound-Osprey water treatment plant and later said, “I messed up,” before fleeing the scene.
According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 9 p.m. on Wednesday. A witness reported hearing a loud crash and later saw a man sitting outside the damaged area.

The witness told deputies the man repeatedly said, “I messed up,” before running from the scene. Deputies are searching for a man with a neck tattoo who appears to be in his late 20s and was described as wearing a tank top.
The sheriff’s office said the crash disrupted water service and water pressure for many Hobe Sound residents. Deputies said it is unclear how long the disruption will last.
Photos from the scene show a damaged silver vehicle that crashed into water pipes, with water gushing from the broken lines.
