A bicyclist was killed after she was hit by a driver who fled the scene in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday, according to authorities.
Fort Lauderdale Police said it happened at around 6:40 a.m., when they were called to a hit-and-run crash where a woman had been hit by a dark vehicle while riding her bike.
The victim was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center, where she died, police said. Her name was not immediately available.
Aerial video showed the bicycle on its side in the bike lane as officials investigated.

Police said the eastbound lanes on Southeast 17th Street in the 2000 block will be shut down due to the investigation. Drivers were advised to seek an alternate route to gain access to the barrier island, including East Las Olas or Sunrise Boulevard.
