They’ve hired consultants, raised money, and prepared to campaign. But many Florida state legislators from Broward and Palm Beach counties have easy paths to return to Tallahassee. Some won’t have to campaign at all.
Most legislative districts aren’t competitive, which means the Republican or Democratic nominee is all-but-certain to win. That’s especially true for incumbents. Until they can’t run again because of term limits, many senators and representatives don’t face tough challengers, and some don’t draw opponents at all.
Here is a rundown of the likely, or in some cases certain, 2026 legislative race winners in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
No challengers
Six state representatives in Broward County, all Democrats, all won reelection to new terms when the Republican Party didn’t field any challengers against them by the June 12 deadline.
State Reps. Daryl Campbell, Dan Daley, Lisa Dunkley, Christine Hunschofsky, Felicia Robinson and Marie Woodson all won their next terms when no candidates came forward to run against them. They come from the northwest, central and southern parts of the county.
It’s different in Palm Beach County, where every state Senate and House district has at least one candidate from each party.
The lack of opposition for Hunschofsky is helpful for Democrats. She is the party’s incoming leader in the House and not having an election opponent allows her to spend the summer and fall helping other Democratic candidates, and raising campaign money for their efforts.
Offsetting that advantage: Democrats also don’t have a challenger against her Republican counterpart, Speaker-designate Sam Garrison of Fleming Island.
Senate contests
There are three state Senate contests in the two counties in heavily Democratic districts.
In the Broward-Palm Beach County 30th District, former state Sen. Lauren Book is hoping to return to Tallahassee.
She represented different territory, farther south in Broward during her previous eight years in office, before she couldn’t run again in 2024 because of term limits. During her final years in Tallahassee she was the Senate Democratic leader.
She had planned to run for a different Broward/Miami-Dade seat that opens up because of term limits in 2026.
But when state Sen. Tina Polsky announced she wasn’t running for reelection this year, Book entered the District 30 race instead.
Daley considered running, but opted not to return to the House instead. Book quickly consolidated support with multiple endorsements.
Book will face either Hector Rivera or Jerusa Zitta, both of whom qualified as candidates in the Republican primary.
In the all-Broward District 32, state Sen. Rosalind Osgood, D-Fort Lauderdale, is all but guaranteed to win another term in November.
She is unopposed in the Democratic primary and no Republican came forward to challenge her. No party affiliation/independent Crescente Furnaguera will appear on the ballot, but no NPA candidate has ever won a legislative election in Florida.
In Palm Beach County’s District 34, incumbent Democrat Mack Bernard will face Republican challenger Jackie Green.
House contests
Incumbents are likely winners in most of the House districts in the two counties.
— District 98 (Broward). State Rep. Mitch Rosenwald, D-Oakland Park, is being challenged by Democrat Keith Abel. Because no one in another party came forward, the primary will be open to all voters, not just Democrats, and the winner on Aug. 18 doesn’t face voters in November.
— District 103 (Broward). Robin Bartleman, Democratic incumbent, will face Republican Imtiaz Mohammad in November.
— District 86 (Palm Beach County). John Snyder, Republican incumbent, faces Democratic challenger Elizabeth Brendel Pandich in November.
— District 88 (Palm Beach County). Jervonte “Tae” Edmonds, Democratic incumbent, faces Republican challenger William Joseph in November.
— District 90 (Palm Beach County). Rob Long, Democratic incumbent, will face Republican challenger Ionel Roiban in November.

— District 92 (Palm Beach County). Kelly Skidmore, Democratic incumbent, will face the Republican primary winner, either Steve Byers or Stephen V. Iacullo.
— District 94 (Palm Beach County). Megan Weinberger, Republican incumbent known as “MAGA Meg,” will face Democrat Elizabeth Holmes and no party affiliation/independent candidate, Doug Barrow in November.
