• I’m ticked off at political campaign canvassers who don’t take the time to ring my doorbell to talk about the candidate’s platforms and only leave a brochure on my doorknob. Too lazy to talk means too lazy to represent.
• I’m ticked off that I didn’t know smoking weed in public was now legal in Florida. Oh, that’s right, it isn’t. So how come I had to be greeted at the hotel I checked in to by people smoking outside the hotel and no one was doing anything about it? Absolutely disgusting and disrespectful!
• Ticked off at Publix. Prices still going up while they are looking more like a wholesale club. Can a gallon of mayo or pickles be on the horizon?
• I’m ticked off at the comics not even trying to be funny. They are no longer “kid friendly!”
• I am ticked off that a local TV reporter can’t pronounce the word “tourist” properly. She says “tore-ist” as opposed to “tour-ist.” Once this is settled, we can focus on “pick-tour” (picture), “temp-er-ture” (temperature) and “lie-bary” (library).
The flip side
• Watching the opening ceremony for the America 250 celebration was a joy. Listening to the Marine Corps band was a special treat. Whether it was a Marine Corps sergeant doing the singing or a professional opera singer, it was great. Those guys have some pipes.
• Since FIFA World Cup soccer has now banned the noisy bells, whistles, horns, etc., we have been enjoying hearing human voices joined in fun, cheers and song. Love it!
