Murray Bros. Caddyshack, an iconic restaurant and entertainment destination headlining World Golf Village in the Jacksonville area is closing permanently 25 years after being founded by actor Billy Murray and his brothers.
Regarded as a “legendary” dining spot, Murray Bros. Caddyshack planned to shut its doors at the close of business Saturday, June 27. Andy Murray announced the closure in a mid-morning Facebook post, thanking customers for their “love and support. We’ve had 25 wonderful years here at the World Golf Village, but it is now time to slip away.”

Murray also invited people to “come in and have a drink” before it was last call for the restaurant. No reason for the closure was given in the Facebook post.
The restaurant’s food service license was listed as “delinquent, active” with an expiration date of June 1, according to Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation online records. An employee who answered Caddyshack’s telephone mid-afternoon June 27 confirmed the planned closure to the Times-Union but said no managers were available immediately for comment.
‘An incredible Cinderella story”
It was nearly impossible to visit Murray Bros Caddyshack without citing classic lines and quips from the 1980 sports comedy movie starring Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, the late Rodney Dangerfield and the late Ted Knight.
The fun vibe and golfing ambiance, where guests could watch golf on multiple big-screen TVs, made Murray Bros. Caddyshack a go-to destination for locals and visitors, especially during The Players Championship.
The restaurant, known for its wedge salad as well as other freshly made-to-order offerings such as burgers, sandwiches and entrees including Ahi Tuna and jambalaya, encouraged guests to “Eat, Drink and Be Murray.”
In 2022, Andy Murray, the seventh of nine children in the Murray family, shared many of their family’s recipes in a cookbook/memoir: “Eat, Drink and Be Murray: A Feast of Family Fun and Favorites.” Some of the family favorites were on the Caddyshack menu.
