Rain chances increase to start the week

  • June 28, 2026

Front increasing our rain chances also being watched for potential tropical low development.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Tonight

After a sweltering, but mainly dry, Sunday afternoon, spotty storms will develop as we round out the afternoon and push into the evening. These storms will linger for the early evening hours with drier conditions as we pass 9pm. Overnight will feature partly cloudy skies and lows in the mid-upper 70s.

Scattered storms expected Monday afternoon.

Monday

Rain chances will begin to creep up as a very weak cold front starts sliding into northern Florida. This will begin adding moisture and instability in our atmosphere to increase storm coverage. Our Monday morning commute will remain dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Showers and storms will begin developing along our sea breeze after lunchtime. Expect scattered coverage to last through the evening drive. Highs will hit the mid 90s once again with heat index values primarily between 100-105ºF.

A weak cold front increases storm chances for Central Florida

Week Ahead

The biggest influx of moisture and instability occurs Tuesday as the front crosses into Central Florida. Expect numerous showers and thunderstorms Tuesday with mostly cloudy skies.

the NHC is watching the Atlantic waters just off the Central Florida coast for potential low development next week.

This same front is being watched by the National Hurricane Center. Models are hinting at an area of low pressure forming along this boundary in the Atlantic waters just off the coast of the Carolinas. The NHC is currently giving this a low chance of development. Models are currently not in agreement on the movement of this low. Keep checking back with News 6 for the latest on this tropical potential.
