The advisory is between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m., with temperatures in the mid to upper 90s and peak heat indices meeting or exceeding 108 degrees, according to NWS Melbourne.
There is a 60 percent chance for storms and showers along the Volusia and Brevard coasts, mainly after 5 p.m.
Lightning strikes, gusty winds, heavy downpours and localized flooding is possible, with peak coverage anticipated near the Interstate 4 corridor.
There is a moderate risk of rip currents at all area beaches, according to NWS Melbourne.
During the evening hours, skies will be partly cloudy with temperatures having a low around 77 degrees.
North winds will become south-southwest and rain chances will remain at 60 percent.
