On Friday, June 26, 2026, at approximately 7:45 a.m., a Cape Coral Police Department Motors Officer was near the intersection of SE 47th Street and Del Prado Boulevard South when he observed a dark gray BMW 2 Series traveling southbound on Del Prado Boulevard South at a high rate of speed.
The officer estimated the vehicle was traveling approximately 60 mph in a posted 35 mph speed zone, significantly faster than the normal flow of traffic. The driver was observed wearing a white shirt.
The officer activated the patrol motorcycle’s emergency lights and siren and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Instead of stopping, the BMW continued southbound at a high rate of speed, traveled through the intersection of Del Prado Boulevard South and Cape Coral Parkway East, and turned west onto Lafayette Street.
While on Lafayette Street, the officer visually estimated the BMW’s speed at approximately 100 mph in a posted 30 mph speed zone. Radar confirmed the vehicle was traveling 102 mph. The officer’s emergency lights and siren remained activated throughout the pursuit.
The BMW later turned onto Vincennes Street. Another officer located the vehicle backed into a parking space at a business in the 4800 block of Cape Coral Street.
Officers made contact with the driver, who was identified as Chase Vincent Ciano (DOB: 07/24/2003) through his Florida driver’s license. He was wearing the same white shirt observed by the Motors Officer.
Based on the investigation, Ciano was arrested and transported to the Lee County Jail on the following charges:
