HOBE SOUND, Fla. (CBS12) — One person is dead after being trapped in a house fire in Hobe Sound on Monday.

According to Martin County Fire Rescue, a blaze erupted shortly after 3 p.m. inside a home near South Cactus Trail. Firefighters said 32 units from MCFR and Stuart Fire Rescue responded and found heavy smoke coming from all doors and windows. Crews entered the home, found an unresponsive person and extinguished the fire.

Firefighters rescued the victim, who suffered life-threatening injuries.

In an update, MCFR said the person later died at the hospital.

MCFR said the State Fire Marshal was notified and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
