LIVE: Jacksonville officials, HUD launch initiative to expand affordable housing through manufactured homes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – City of Jacksonville and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development officials will hold a signing ceremony Tuesday to launch an initiative aimed at expanding affordable housing in the city through the use of manufactured homes, city leaders said.

The ceremony is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, in the Naomi T. Glover Conference Room on the fourth floor of City Hall, 117 W. Duval St. A media availability will follow the signing.

Attendees are expected to include Mayor Donna Deegan; Councilwoman Ju’Cuby Pittman; Tiffany Cobb, deputy regional administrator for HUD; Joseph DeFelice, assistant secretary for field policy and management at HUD; Joseph Gormerly, assistant secretary for the Federal Housing Commissioner at HUD; Alesia Scott-Ford, HUD field office director; Paul Olin, general deputy assistant, FHA; and Thomas Waters, director of the city’s Neighborhoods Department.

HUD will also host a home ownership forum at 11:15 a.m. in the Ed Ball Building to outline how agency partners are working to house residents through innovative approaches.
