A man has been arrested after two men were stabbed to death in Lauderhill on Tuesday morning and a third reported being attacked, police said.
Shortly after 11 a.m., a man reported to a Lauderhill Police officer that another man armed with a knife had tried to attack him and described the suspect to the officer, Lt. Antonio Gonzalez said in a news release.
Later, near the 1700 block of Northwest 55th Avenue, the officer found a man matching the suspect’s description walking in the area, who ran away into a nearby neighborhood, Gonzalez said. Officers set up a search perimeter.
As officers searched, someone called 911 to report finding a different man who had been stabbed lying on the ground. While officers searched that area, they found a second man who had been stabbed, according to the news release.
One of the two stabbing victims was pronounced dead where he was found, while the second was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
“The one who alerted the officer was not one of the victims stabbed,” Gonzalez said in an email Tuesday afternoon. “We don’t have a motive or a connection between the suspect or any of the victims at this time.”
The police department did not provide information about where the two men who died were found or release their names, the name of the man who initially reported an attempted stabbing or the name of the man who was arrested.
Investigators do not believe there is a threat to the public or to the surrounding community, the news release said.
