Florida’s tallest flagpole to be raised in Cape Coral for Independence Day
A 250-foot flagpole, the tallest in Florida, is set to be raised at Bernice Braden Park in Cape Coral, marking a patriotic milestone ahead of Independence Day.
The flagpole, located near the Cape Coral Bridge, has been under construction for weeks to ensure it is ready by July 4. City Manager Michael Ilczyszyn spearheaded the project, raising more than $300,000 in donations to cover the costs.
Ilczyszyn said that, as a veteran, he believes the flagpole is a great addition to Cape Coral in time for America’s semiquincentennial.
The city will hold a ceremony on Saturday to raise the flag ahead of the Red, White and Boom celebration.
