OCALA, Fla. (CBS12) — A missing Florida dog is back home with his family after an adventure that somehow took him all the way to New York.

Apollo, a 13-year-old dog from Ocala, disappeared from his family’s home in April, leaving his owners searching for answers and hoping for the best. Months later, they got an unexpected call: Apollo had been found more than 1,000 miles away at a police station on Long Island.

His owner, Nicholas Josey, traveled to New York on Friday to bring him home.

The reunion was a happy one for the family, who never gave up hope that Apollo would eventually make it back.

“I had no doubt the whole time he’ll make it back home; it’s just mind-blowing that he was all the way in New York,” Josey said.

he went to New York, he went to New York before any of us.”
