FORT PIERCE, Fla — Tuesday is Election Day. In Fort Pierce, voters will decide who fills the District 2 commissioner seat that was left vacant after a controversial resignation. Whoever wins will serve the rest of James Taylor’s term.

The former commissioner stepped down earlier this summer following his arrest for allegedly having sexual online chats with a 12-year-old girl. Body camera footage captured the moment of Taylor’s arrest after allegations surfaced that he had sent nude photos to a minor on Snapchat.

A candidate needs more than 50 percent of the vote to win. If no one crosses that threshold on Election Day, the top two will face off in a runoff election in January. Polls in Fort Pierce are open until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

This is a developing story. We will bring you the results as soon as they come in, both on air and online.
