TAMPA, Fla. — The City of Tampa is working to launch a new program to assist homeowners with recovery after Hurricane’s Helene and Milton.
The Homeowner Hurricane Assistance program, or HHA, will be open for applications on November 17, and the city is urging residents who are still in need of assistance to determine if they qualify.

Eligible homeonwers could be awarded up to $30,000 in assistance
Households must make less than 140% the Area Median Income
Tampa residents in Palmetto Beach, Forrest Hills, South Tampa and Port Area will be prioritized
Assistance will be awarded to those household making less than 140% the annual median income, roughly $160,000 or less for a family of four.
The maximum award per household is $30,000.
The city says residents will be required to prove their income and have receipts for past repairs, or estimates from licensed contractors for repairs that still need to be made.
“These funds aim to achieve two purposes: to assist homeowners who remain unable to repair their homes one year after the storms, and to reimburse those who completed repairs but exceeded the income thresholds for the Homeowner Disaster Assistance Program,” said Development and Economic Opportunity Administrator Abbye Feeley.
The City of Tampa is funding the HHA program, moving some federal funds into the program as well as funds from its general fund.
Residents who already received awards from the Homeowners Disaster Assistance Program earlier this year are not qualified for the HHA program.
