Violectric, recently named House Band for the City of Orlando by outgoing Mayor Buddy Dyer, kicks off July 4 weekend with a free performance downtown. In celebration of America’s 250th birthday, the electrified string quintet performs a concert with music from Bon Jovi, Journey, Michael Jackson and more.

With their penchant for melding rock classics with classical technique, the band brings the showmanship with LED-festooned instruments and rock poses aplenty. Concertgoers are encouraged to wear red, white and blue for the full rah-rah.

7 p.m. Friday, July 3, Aloft Orlando Downtown, 500 S. Orange Ave., violectric.net, free.
