JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (CBS12) — A Jacksonville neighborhood is mourning the loss of a 4-year-old girl who was killed in a shooting that also left her mother and 2-year-old sister critically injured.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, patrol officers responded just before 5 p.m. June 30 to a home on Traci Lynn Drive on the city’s Northside, where they found a 27-year-old woman and her two young daughters suffering from gunshot wounds.
The 4-year-old girl died at the scene. The woman and the 2-year-old girl were taken to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators said a dispute occurred outside the home between the woman and 29-year-old Trudale Reed. During the argument, Reed allegedly fired multiple rounds, striking the woman and both children before fleeing the area in a stolen SUV.
Detectives with the sheriff’s office identified Reed as the suspect and broadcast a description of the vehicle. Members of the Community Problem Response Team later located the SUV, stopped it using a vehicle block and detained Reed. He was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries before being arrested.

Reed has been charged with second-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, shooting into an occupied dwelling, auto theft, aggravated fleeing and eluding, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to the sheriff’s office. He was booked into the Duval County Pre-Trial Detention Center.

Authorities said the shooting stemmed from what they described as a domestic incident. Police have also said the man and woman had a history of domestic-related incidents.
Neighbors said the tragedy has shaken the close-knit community.

Neighbor Dede Bent said:
I lived over here for 20 years, and we all know each other. Everybody in the neighborhood know each other,”
Another neighbor, Ella Bedwell, told WJAX her heart goes out to the family.
I know I’m not connected to the family in any way, but just to witness that, I can’t imagine what’s going on like through their heads and everything.”
Police said another person was inside the home during the shooting and was not injured. That individual reportedly heard the gunfire and came outside to find the victims.
In a statement, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said its prayers are with the victims and their family as the investigation continues.
