ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — Red, Hot & Boom is returning for its 29th year in Altamonte Springs Friday night.

The event starts at 5 p.m. at Cranes Roost Park, 283 Cranes Roost Blvd. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m., weather permitting. The city plans to shoot about 10 fireworks per second for 25 minutes tied in with popular and patriotic songs.

Musical performances include country artist Chris Lane, Blue Stone Circle, and Wish Radio. Vendors will sell food throughout the park as well.

With the event landing on a Friday, Altamonte Springs leaders are expecting a large crowd of about 200,000 people to come out and celebrate America’s 250th birthday.

“We come together on this day and really celebrate the fact that we’re all in this together and that’s what we’re hoping all of our visitors do,” said city manager Frank Martz.

Martz says they started planning Red, Hot & Boom right after last year’s event, finding ways to improve and make the best experience for the crowd.

Guests can bring in folding chairs, tents, blankets, and soft-sided personal coolers that can be carried in by a shoulder strap or single handle. Pop-up tents with no sides (up to 10’ x 10’) are allowed. Tents in the amphitheater must be removed by 5 p.m., while others can be taken down by sundown.

Prohibited items include drones, alcohol/drugs, glass, coolers over 2’ x 2’, coolers on wheels, unauthorized weapons, sharp objects, personal fireworks, grills, propane tanks or open flames, and pets.

The Altamonte Springs Police Department will monitor the event. In the case of an emergency, dial 911. Suspicious activity can be reported by calling 855-FLA-SAFE (855-352-7233) or downloading the Florida See Say app. Markers will be located throughout the park to help law enforcement find the incident location in the crowd.

“We will have a lot of partners here with us from multi-agencies helping us, coming from even outside of the county to help us with this event,” said public information officer Deana Dipaola.

The Seminole County Fire Department encourages people to stay hydrated, wear light-colored clothing, and find shade. First-aid and mist stations will be scattered throughout the park.

“We also deploy medical foot teams, bike teams, and carts that will help offer assistance to get patients back to the medical tent, should we need to,” said Lt. Dave Williams.

Admission to the Kid Zone is free.  However, adults 21-years-old or older can buy tickets to the Oasis Beer Garden Experience, which includes light bites, drinks, and exclusive fireworks viewing. Tickets cost $45.

Several nearby roads will be closed down:

Festival Drive closes at 7 a.m. between the Altamonte Mall Loop Road and Central Parkway. 
CenterPointe Circle and Penland Lane close at 7 a.m. 
Festival Drive at S.R. 436 closes 6:30 p.m.
Cranes Roost Boulevard closes at S.R. 436 at 6:30 p.m.

After the fireworks, many streets will convert to one-way exits to speed up exiting the park. It is recommended drivers park in the direction of their path home.
