LEBANON COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A veteran from Lebanon County won a pickleball match during the National Veterans Golden Age Games in Tampa, Florida, last week.
Rafael “Ray” Kozlusky, 90, was part of the oldest doubles team at the competition. His teammate was Richard Olwig, an 89-year-old veteran from St. Louis.
“Fortunately, we were able to win one game,” Kozlusky said. “It was a lot of fun playing.”
Kozlusky served for eight years in the Navy as a radio operator, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs. He deployed twice in the Mediterranean Region as part of the sixth fleet’s Occupational Forces in Europe after World War II.
Kozlusky also competed in air pistol, billiards, boccia and shuffleboard during the event.
