TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Police Department on Monday honored a fallen officer killed in the line of duty 25 years ago.
Master Police Officer Lois Marrero was shot and killed while trying to catch a bank robbery suspect. She was 40 years old and had been with TPD for 19 years.
She was the first female officer at TPD to die in the line of duty.
TPD rededicated a portion of a road in her honor. It’s a section of West Kennedy Boulevard between Lois Avenue and Dale Mabry Highway.
It will be called the Master Police Officer Lois Marrero Memorial Highway. Signage for the road will be placed in the area.
