Stranded boaters off Madeira Beach rescued from disabled boat

A 39-hour fishing trip off Madeira Beach became a rescue mission as a crew aided a disabled boat twice, safely returning all passengers to shore.

MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. — Off the coast of Madeira Beach, a 39-hour fishing trip turned into a mission to rescue people from a disabled boat.

According to a spokesperson from Hubbard’s Marina, the “Florida Fishermen” crew, led by Captain Will, heard a radio call on Saturday afternoon from the U.S. Coast Guard and went out to help the people on the disabled boat.

The crew was able to get the other boat running again before breaking down a second time some hours later, according to the spokesperson for Hubbard’s Marina.

Boaters who were on board the disabled vessel were taken safely back to shore. According to the spokesperson, the boat will be recovered at a later date.

“Our crews are trained to respond when fellow mariners need assistance,” Captain Will said. “We’re grateful everyone made it home safely, and we appreciate the coordination with the U.S. Coast Guard throughout the incident.”
