TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A lightning strike is believed to have sparked a mobile home fire Sunday afternoon in Tallahassee, displacing a resident but causing no injuries.
At about 2:15 p.m. on July 6, the Tallahassee Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Darby Drive after smoke was reported inside a mobile home. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke throughout the home and fire showing from the rear roofline.
Firefighters located the fire in the attic, deployed hose lines and brought the fire under control within minutes. The homeowner was outside when crews arrived, and primary and secondary searches confirmed no one was inside. No injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the displaced resident. The Tallahassee Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Tallahassee Police Department and Leon County EMS.
