DAPHNE, Ala. (NBC 15) — According to Daphne Police, on July 2, 2026, at 10:45 pm, Daphne Patrol Officers conducted a traffic stop on US Hwy 98 near N Main Street for erratic driving. ‘
The driver was identified as 46-year-old Andrew Demetric Gillum of Tallahassee, FL. Gillum is a former nominee for Florida governor.
One of the officers saw a glass pipe on the center console of the vehicle. This led to a probable cause search of the vehicle.
Several rolled marijuana cigarettes and three packages of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine were recovered.
Mr. Gillum was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class D felony, and Possession of Marijuana, 2nd Degree, a class A misdemeanor.
He was booked into the Daphne City Jail and later transported to the Baldwin County Correctional Facility.
