ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. — A swimmer reported missing off St. Pete Beach has been found safe nearly 14 hours after crews began searching.

The male swimmer was reported missing on the evening of July 3.

Crews responded to the scene after a caller reported not being able to find the swimmer, who had gone for a swim in the Gulf.

The search began just after 9 p.m. Marine and dive crews searched the water while deputies searched the surrounding area and local businesses.

After weather conditions forced a suspension of the search, crews are back on scene Saturday morning.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission assisted the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in the search.
