Yet despite recent noise and speculation, they are not fully engaged enough in pursuing two former NBA stars.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Heat have taken a passive approach in their situation with Bradley Beal and DeMar DeRozan.
“Besides waiting for LeBron James, the Heat continues to wait patiently to see if another shooter or scorer shakes free. They had initial conversations with Bradley Beal but haven’t been aggressive in their pursuit, per a source. They hadn’t contacted Demar DeRozan as of Monday, though that could change,” the longtime Heat reporter wrote.

Bradley Beal declined his $5.6 million 2026-27 player option to enter free agency.
Beal appeared in only six games for the LA Clippers this past season before a hip injury ended his campaign. The three-time All-Star averaged 8.2 points and 1.7 assists, while shooting 37.5% from the field.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings have decided to waive DeMar DeRozan after their planned trade resolution did not work out.
Last season, he averaged 18.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.1 assists for Sacramento while shooting 49.7% from the field.
While both former NBA stars are proven scorers and offensive contributors, the Miami Heat might be considering other options to sign.
