The nonprofit organization City Rescue Mission is opening up as a cooling center to those in need when it hits 95 degrees or hotter in Downtown Jacksonville.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As temperatures reach dangerous levels this summer, a nonprofit organization is opening up its shelter to help get people out of the heat.
City Rescue Mission announced Wednesday that it will operate a cooling center at its New Life Inn, located at 234 W. State Street in Downtown Jacksonville.
The organization is dedicated to helping people experiencing hunger, homelessness and addiction.
“As the summer gets even hotter, we will provide cooling centers open to the public,” said Paul Stasi, CRM Executive Director. “We want to make sure that our neighbors in need have cool shelter and a place to rest.”
Guests will be welcome to check in from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on days when it will be 95 degrees or hotter.
The organization said all guests will receive clean clothes and a hot meal.
