Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was found dead with a bullet wound inside of his car in Fort Lauderdale early Wednesday, police say.

A Shot Spotter alert brought Fort Lauderdale police officers to the 1300 block of Northwest 13th Court a little after 4 a.m., according to Detective Kerri Hagerty, a spokesperson for the police department.

There, they found the car, and a man identified as Mike Menard, 32, with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Menard and two other family members own a home on Northwest 13th Court, Broward County property records show. He was licensed as an insurance agent and worked for various health insurance companies, according to state licensing records.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators are actively investigating Menard’s death, Hagerty said.

Anyone with information should contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
