To help local families prepare for the upcoming school term, WCTV has compiled a list of back-to-school events and giveaways happening in the Big Bend and South Georgia. The list will continue to be updated as we learn more.

Big BendLeon CountyThe 7th annual James Coleman Drive-Thru Backpack Giveaway and Food Distribution: Happening Saturday, July 25, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Bond Elementary School. The event will offer stuffed backpacks with school supplies. KidsStreet Urgent Care Back to School Bash: Happening Saturday, Aug. 8, from 4 to 6 p.m. at 2615 N Monroe Street, Suite 1B. The event will offer 300 backpacks filled with school supplies, giveaways, a bounce house, face paint, activities and more.Milk Me Treats’ 4th annual Packs 4 Success Back to School Drive: Happening Saturday, Aug. 8, at 10 a.m. at Restoration Place, located at 3881 N Monroe Street. The event will offer free backpacks with supplies, haircuts and styles, community resources, games and activities.Whole Child Leon’s 5th annual Jumpstart 2 Success event: Happening Saturday, Aug. 8, from 8:30 to 12:30 p.m. at Lively Technical College. The event will offer free backpacks, school supplies, dental and vision screenings, immunizations, games and more. Jefferson County“Stuff the Bus” School Supply Drive: Happening Saturday, July 25, from 10 to 12 p.m. at 1287 S Jefferson Street in Monticello. The event will offer free school supplies.Jefferson K-12 Back to School Bash: Happening Saturday, Aug. 1, from 10 to 1 p.m. at 50 David Road in Monticello. The free event will connect families with resources before the first day of school. Wakulla CountyDrive-thru distribution events: From 9 to 12 p.m. on July 18 in St. Marks at Coast Charter SchoolFrom 9 to 12 p.m. on July 25 in Panacea at Panacea Plaza From 9 to 12 p.m. on August 1 in Sopchoppy at the Sopchoppy City HallOn-site distribution event: Happening Saturday, Aug. 8, from 9 to 2 p.m. at the Wakulla County Community Center. The event will offer haircuts, school physicals, lunch, vendors, a clothes closet and Second Harvest.Gadsden CountyBack to School Community Resource Fair: Happening Sunday, Aug. 9, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the old Havana Northside High School. The event will offer school supplies, toiletries, health screenings, technology giveaways and more. South GeorgiaThomas CountyEmily Silas Blackshear Foundation’s 5th annual Bookbag Giveaway event: Happening Saturday, July 1, from 8 to 1 p.m. at Francis Weston Park, located at 230 Felix Street in Thomasville. Free books, essential supplies, food and drinks will be given away. Climmie’s H&M and RealMealz Back-to-School Fun in the Sun: Happening Saturday, July 25, from 11 to 3 p.m. at 325 N Boulevard in Thomasville. The free event will offer school supplies, clothes and shoes, snacks, a bounce house, fun and more.Community Mental Health Awareness Back-to-School Program: Happening Saturday, Aug. 1, from 11 to 1 p.m. at the Thomas County Public Library. The event will offer free back-to-school supplies and food.Lowndes CountyBack to School Kids Fest at Valdosta Mall: Happening Thursday, July 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will offer giveaways, supplies, games and more. City of Valdosta’s annual Back to School Community Block Party: Happening Saturday, Aug. 1, from 9 t 1 p.m. at Unity Park, located at 301 E. Central Avenue. Free school supplies, food, music, activities and haircuts will be available. The haircuts will be available at the Multipurpose Room at the City Hall Annex.Echols CountySecond annual distribution: Happening Saturday, July 11, from 10 to 12 p.m. at the 148 Church of God. The event will offer school supplies.Grady CountyMitchell County
