Rio Grande apartment building condemned after 2-alarm fire

  • July 10, 2026

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 2-alarm apartment fire Friday left an entire building condemned and multiple residents without a home, the Orlando Fire Department said.

The fire broke out on the second floor of the complex at 2994 S. Rio Grande Ave. Crews knocked it down and had it fully extinguished. No injuries were reported.

Entire building condemned after blaze

Code Enforcement condemned the entire building following the fire — not just the units directly affected by the flames.

So far, nine adults and one minor are confirmed displaced. But Orlando Fire said not all occupants have been notified yet, meaning that number could climb.

Red Cross working to find temporary housing

Orlando Fire Department, property management, and the Red Cross are working together to determine the total number of displaced residents and find appropriate temporary housing.

Anyone displaced by the fire is encouraged to contact the Red Cross for assistance.
