JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — On July 10th, Jacksonville police say a pedestrian was struck by two cars at the intersection of Western Blvd and Gateway Drive S.

At approximately 12:27 a.m., members of the Jacksonville Police Department responded to a collision. An investigation revealed that a pedestrian had been walking in the roadway when they were struck by a Jeep Wrangler. Investigators say the driver, Christina Geffre, stopped to help. Then the pedestrian was hit a second time by a different vehicle. The second driver failed to stop at the scene.

Police say the pedestrian was transported to an area hospital and later died.

Jacksonville Police is asking for help identifying the driver and vehicle that left the scene. The unknown vehicle was pulling an enclosed U-Haul trailer. This is an ongoing investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact Traffic Investigator I.
