Severe thunderstorms bring damaging winds to the Gulf Coast

Leftover rain in the wake of severe storms on Friday evening highlight the short-term forecast along the Gulf Coast tonight.

When Friday’s storms were at their most intense, they ushered in wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and large hail for Florida weather standards.
A tornado was reported near the 1200 block of SW 27th Street in Cape Coral at 4:07 p.m.

On Saturday, our weather forecast calls for an isolated shower or storm over the Gulf waters in the morning, before the widest coverage of rain and storms moves east of Interstate 75 in the afternoon.
This will keep storm chances west of I-75 lower on Saturday, peaking at 40% in the late afternoon.
