The gathering served as a fitting finale for a Norwegian squad that captured the attention of soccer fans around the world by reaching the last eight of the tournament.

A difficult ending to a historic journey
Norway’s World Cup came to a close with a hard-fought 2-1 extra-time loss to England in the quarterfinals. The match was filled with controversy and drama. At one point, Norway thought it had taken the lead, only for the goal to be disallowed after officials ruled that Haaland had pushed England midfielder Elliot Anderson before a corner kick.
England eventually prevailed in extra time, ending Norway’s deepest World Cup run in decades and denying Haaland the opportunity to continue his quest for the sport’s biggest prize. Despite the disappointment, the Manchester City striker appeared determined to enjoy the accomplishment rather than dwell on the result.

Haaland politely declined the gesture, choosing instead to continue enjoying the evening without much fanfare.
