TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A Tallahassee man wanted on a federal warrant was arrested in late June after detectives said they saw him carrying a concealed firearm and later found drugs packaged for sale inside an apartment.
Detectives with the Tallahassee Police Department’s Violent Crime Response Team arrested Omarion Rashad, 21, in connection with an outstanding federal warrant and additional firearm- and drug-related offenses.
While conducting surveillance, detectives observed Rashad exit an apartment and recognized him as having an active federal warrant for possession of a machine gun stemming from a previous case. During the surveillance, detectives said Rashad was seen walking a dog while concealing a firearm in his waistband. Before detectives could speak with him, he returned to an apartment.
Detectives established a perimeter and called the occupants outside. Several individuals exited the residence, including Rashad, who was immediately detained.
Detectives later obtained a search warrant for the apartment. During the search, they located the firearm Rashad had been observed carrying, along with 10.6 grams of synthetic cathinones packaged for sale and 88 grams of marijuana.
Rashad was arrested for possession of a machine gun pursuant to the federal warrant, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of a concealed firearm, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
