MILWAUKEE — The first 27-ton shipment of emergency relief supplies collected by United for Venezuela arrived in Miami over the weekend.
The supplies will be shipped to Venezuela by Global Empowerment Mission, where they will be distributed to those affected by the earthquakes.
“This shipment represents the extraordinary compassion of people who refused to stand by while families in Venezuela faced unimaginable tragedy,” said Darryl D. Morin, national president of Forward Latino, who helped lead the campaign. “We are deeply grateful to every volunteer, donor, partner, and supporter who made this possible.”

Some prominent Brewers players were also at the forefront of the United for Venezuela campaign. The mission was personal for Brewers catcher William Contreras, outfielder Jackson Chourio, and coach Nestor Corredor, who are all from the country.
The Brewers are also hosting a benefit game for the cause later this month.
Included in the shipment were non-perishable food, bottled water, personal hygiene products, first aid supplies, tents, sleeping bags, blankets and more.
Forward Latino said it’s now looking for monetary donations to offset the cost of transporting all the emergency supplies.
