Two unclaimed veterans laid to rest at Tallahassee National Cemetery

  • July 13, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Two unclaimed veterans were laid to rest at Tallahassee National Cemetery on Monday.

People of all ages came out to pay their respects to the two unclaimed veterans who served in the Vietnam War.

The Big Bend Honor Guard led honors for the veterans as their cremated remains were interred in the Tallahassee National Cemetery.

First Private Class Mark David Roy served in the Marine Corps and First Private Class Glenn Charles Dorsey served in the Army.

Their names and remains will now join the rows of other brave men and women who fought for our country.

For Patriot Guard rider Assistant State Captain Larry Tyndall, the ceremony for these veterans hit close to home.

“My dad, for one, he was an Army veteran in Korea. My brother was Navy,” Tyndall said. “We met so many people that have served their country that people have no idea what they’ve gone through. And it’s our duty as U.S. citizens, I think, to honor those people for what they’ve done.”

More Tallahassee news:

Veteran and National Cemetery director Andrew Santa-Pinter said there is a vetting process for unclaimed veterans before they can be interred at a national cemetery.

“The VA and all those VA related agencies, they try to find a next of kin. And if there’s nobody that is found, then they bring the remains over to any National Cemetery and the cemetery does the honor of interring that veteran,” Santa-Pinter said.

The Tallahassee National Cemetery hosts a ceremony for unclaimed veterans each quarter.

It’s unclear how or why their remains came to be unclaimed, but regardless, the community showed up today to honor their lives and their service to our country.
