Steven Meiner was projected to win re-election as Miami Beach mayor in Tuesday’s race.

Meiner was the projected winner over challenger Kristen Rosen Gonzalez, garnering over 51% of the vote with 22 of 22 precincts reporting.

“My sole goal, my sole mission, our sole mission, my family, my team, is to make Miami Beach the best and safest city in America and we’re getting there and we gotta keep the momentum going,” Meiner said during a victory speech.

Meiner previously served on the City Commission for four years and is wrapping up his first term as mayor. He’s a lawyer by trade.

Rosen Gonzalez served eight years as a Miami Beach city commissioner and was termed out. She’s a professor at Miami Dade College and realtor by trade.

Meanwhile, three Miami Beach commissioner races were being decided Tuesday.
