A heat advisory is in effect across parts of South Florida today — peak heat index values could reach up to 110 degrees in “most metro areas,” according to the National Weather Service office in Miami.
All metro areas and “portions of interior” South Florida are under heat advisory, states a post by the NWS. Chances of rain will decrease, while Saharan dust will increase. Heat index values across much of the region will range from 105 to 110 degrees.
High temperatures will be in the “mid-upper 90s this afternoon,” with heat index values of 107 degrees forecast for Miami and West Palm Beach, and a heat index of 106 degrees forecast for Fort Lauderdale.
