Person fatally struck by vehicle while fleeing ICE, Florida officials say

A person was struck by a vehicle and killed Tuesday while fleeing federal immigration agents in St. Augustine, Florida, officials said.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of a gas station off Florida State Road 16 shortly before 7 a.m. Tuesday. Four occupants of the stopped vehicle fled on foot, and one ran onto the road and into the path of a tractor-trailer; the person who ran onto the road was struck by the tractor-trailer and died on the scene, FHP said.
