SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a tropical disturbance over the northern Gulf of Mexico, Florida, and Atlantic coastal waters for possible development over the next seven days.
The low pressure system carries a 10% chance of developing tropical characteristics, according to forecasters. Despite the low development probability, the system could still bring rainfall to Florida and potentially surrounding areas as conditions evolve.
“While we’re not expecting anything significant, this system could deliver some much-needed moisture,” First Alert Weather said. “Residents should prepare for rain and breezy conditions as the system moves northeast.”
Forecasters said the disturbance could bring needed rainfall to the region.
