Travelers flying through Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport now have another nonstop option to Florida as JetBlue Airways has officially returned to BWI with new service to Fort Lauderdale.
Airport officials and JetBlue representatives celebrated the airline’s inaugural departure with a gate ceremony before the first flight took off.
“We are excited to welcome JetBlue back as a returning airline partner,” said Shannetta Griffin, executive director and CEO of BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport. “This air service offers new travel opportunities for our passengers and showcases the strength of our market. We look forward to working with JetBlue as it grows its service and provides customers with more travel choices.”
Three Daily Flights to South Florida
JetBlue will operate three daily nonstop flights between BWI Marshall and Fort Lauderdale using Airbus A320 aircraft.
The new route also provides passengers with connections throughout JetBlue’s network. The airline plans to expand its BWI service further on November 2, when it launches nonstop flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Expanding Travel Options
BWI Marshall Airport currently offers approximately 300 daily nonstop departures to about 90 domestic and international destinations.
According to airport officials, BWI generates an estimated $11.3 billion in annual economic impact while supporting more than 107,000 jobs throughout Maryland and the surrounding region.
