Marker celebrates Hank Thomas and activist journey in Jacksonville (WJXT)
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The city of Jacksonville is inviting the community to witness a piece of history Saturday at the former Greyhound Bus Station, as officials unveil the 5th of 40 planned Civil Rights Trail markers.
The ceremony will be held at 10 North Pearl Street and begin at 11 a.m.
The latest marker honors Hank Thomas and the Freedom Riders — activists who traveled across the country to challenge segregation in public travel and transportation.

The former Greyhound Bus Station serves as a fitting landmark for their recognition, connecting the physical place to the broader national movement.
The Civil Rights Trail is one component of The Legacy Project, a citywide effort to highlight Jacksonville’s cultural history and heritage.
When complete, the trail will feature 40 markers across the city.
