James Perry Boyette, 98, of Monticello, Florida, passed away on July 10, 2026. He was a native of Tampa Florida and had resided for many years in Balsam Grove, NC before moving to Monticello.
He was the son of the late Leslie Boyette and Necia Williams. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 74 years, Alice, his brother, Dale Boyette and his sister, Barbara Ann Jones.
He enjoyed a wonderful and full life. He liked to stay busy. He retired as Captain of the rescue car with Tampa Fire Department, chief of Brandon volunteer Fire Department, he was on the board of directors of the Balsam Grove NC volunteer Fire Department. He was a first aid instructor, certified flight instructor, on the board of directors of Haywood Electric in NC, and owned Boyette’s Tractor and Mowing service. In addition he wrote many poems.
He enjoyed attending Seminole Baptist Church in Tallahassee, riding his tractor, reading, finishing decorative wooden ducks by wood burning, staining and painting them. He enjoyed history, especially the Civil War.
His loving survivors include his children, April Johnson, (Bill) and his son James Perry Boyette II; grandchildren: Jennifer Peddicord (Eric), Jason Heim (Courtney), Jamie Boyette (Kim), Johnnie Boyette (Shelly);great-grandchildren: Sydney Peddicord, McKenna Peddicord, Canon Heim, Kenley Heim, Emersyn Heim, Kylie Boyette, Justin Boyette, Kaitlyn Boyette, Kourtney Boyette, Jake Boyette, Samantha Mixon (Joseph), Samuel Chirino, James Boyette, Michael Boyette and Brittany Patrick; daughter in law Jackie Boyette, Sister in law Mary Boyette; dear friends Anna Bontrager, Georgina Kratzert, Jim Pittman and Mark and Jacquie Hatch and a number of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026 at Beggs Funeral Home in Monticello, Fl. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Interment will follow at Oakfield Cemetery in Monticello, Fl.
