TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Calling all food lovers, now is the perfect time to try that local spot you’ve been wanting to check out!
More than 25 local restaurants are participating in Tallahassee’s first Restaurant Week.
Leon County Division of Tourism’s Visit Tallahassee, in partnership with Tallahassee Foodies, officially launched the event Friday.
“We eat local, we drink local, and we are local,” Bumpas Local 349 owner Eddie Agramonte said.
From ahi tuna chopped salad to fried ribs, there’s something for every plate.

Agramonte hopes restaurant week will encourage neighbors to keep their dollar local while supporting Tallahassee’s growing food scene.
“Any other local restaurants that do a fantastic job here in this community, we want them to patronize them as well and come out and try something that’s off the beaten path for them. Don’t just go to the chain,” Agramonte said.
The event kicked off on Friday with a cake cutting at Hayward House.
J. H. Leale with Tallahassee Foodies said Restaurant Week is a great opportunity for people to try some local eateries.
“It’s a great way to get people to come out and actually maybe explore and try some new places that they haven’t tried before and get to some areas maybe where they wouldn’t traditionally go to get them out of their comfort zone,” Leale said. “And with curated menu and some specials, it’s just a fun opportunity, something fun to do this time of year.”

Kerri Post, Leon County Division of Tourism Director said this initiative is a step in the right direction for Tallahassee.
“Every great destination in the state of Florida and in the country has a restaurant week and no we do,” Post said. “They are, indeed, motivators for travel, so that’s why we’re so excited about this inaugural event and to be one for many years to come.”
Over at Deep Brewing Company, which is also participating in Restaurant Week, they’re serving up more than just local craft beers.
“It’s not just an art to us,” Justin Adams, head chef at Deep Brewing Co. said. “We want to make sure everyone’s satisfied.”

From breakfast tacos, to catfish, to freshly made doughnuts, Adams helps create dishes that know no limits.
“I think something that we really like here at Deep is kind of exploring the different regions of food slash the different variations in food in general,” Adams said. “We have an ever-changing menu. We change once a month over here.”
So, whether you’re in the mood for something sweet or savory, the next ten days is an opportunity to try something new or head back to one of your favorite local spots.
Tallahassee Restaurant Week runs from July 17 through July 26. Each participating restaurant has a pre-fixed menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner options depending on the place.
