In 2025, the Miami Hurricanes dominated the Pitt Panthers 38-7 with a trip to the College Football Playoff on the line for the ‘Canes. Miami hit the road in November to a chilly girlfriend of an afternoon at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA.
The ‘Canes led the first half 17-7 before scoring 21 unanswered points in the 2nd half to dominate Pat Narduzzi’s Panthers. So what happened in the game? Miami’s defense- that’s what. Corey Hetherman’s defense held Pitt to an abysmal 4-of-13 on 3rd down.
The Hurricanes defense also came away with one interception, four sacks, six tackles for loss and two PBU’s. DE Rueben Bain Jr. and DT Ahmad Moten both came away with 1.5 TFL’s and one sack a piece, and DB Bryce Fitzgerald played lights out at the nickel position with one INT, one PBU, one sack and one TFL.
QB Mason Heintschel was held to 6.2 yards per pass attempt with one TD and the aforementioned INT. RB Ja’Kyrian Turner averaged only 3.7 yards per carry, while Pitt’s receivers were held to only nine yards per catch.
