MIAMI, Fla. (WWSB) – A 29-year-old woman experiencing pregnancy complications was medically evacuated according to the U.S. Coast Guard while aboard a cruise ship off the coast of Miami.
Watchstanders with Coast Guard Sector Miami received a request for help from the vessel’s security manager, who reported the medical emergency and requested assistance.
A boat crew from Coast Guard Station Miami Beach was dispatched and safely conducted the medical evacuation approximately four miles northeast of Government Cut.
The woman was transferred to emergency medical services and taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center for further treatment.
Coast Guard officials say medical emergencies can happen anywhere, and crews across the Southeast remain ready to respond and help those in need of urgent care.
