MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WNDU) – Andrew Card, owner of Card and Associates, has released a statement as federal prosecutors file a lawsuit to seize a Florida waterfront home, they allege was purchased with funds diverted from the Mishawaka Fieldhouse project.
In a statement released through sister station WTHR, Card said: “Nothing is more important than the health and happiness of my family. I am, however, temporarily relinquishing control of the development division at Card and Associates and will manage operations (as CEO) for current facilities only. My professional reputation is paramount to me. I am hopeful I will be fully vindicated.”
Federal prosecutors accuse Card and his wife, Martha, of wire fraud. They allege Card used funds from the Mishawaka Fieldhouse project to purchase the Florida property.
Card’s company helped develop the Mishawaka Fieldhouse, which opened in 2024. The project cost more than $38 million, much of it paid for by the city of Mishawaka.
The city of Mishawaka released a statement saying: “The city has recently become aware of allegations involving fraudulent activity that resulted in the unauthorized diversion of funds from the Mishawaka Fieldhouse project. At no time did the city have knowledge of this fraudulent conduct.”
Card and Associates’ website and social media accounts, including Facebook and LinkedIn, were no longer accessible as of the time of this report. A call to the company’s office went to voicemail. This story will be updated when additional information is received.
